Motor control technology is challenging because it brings together many disciplines, power electronics, electromangnetics, thermal management, control theory, signal processing, mechanical engineering, software communication, safety and systems engineering.
Achieving great results requires more than excellence in each discipline. Engineers need to not only understand their own field but also grasp the challenges faced by colleagues in other disciplines, Many design choices have consequences across multiple domains, making close collaboration essential to finding the best solution overall.

With my broad experience in high end mechatronic system development, I focus on bringing these disciplines together and creating an environment where specialists work as one team. I have roughly 3 passions in life: my wife and baby, going fast through the jungle and fiddling with Tech.
I started as a Mechanical Engineer straight out of Cambridge University, where I had kept as many electrical engineering modules as possible, working in Gallium Nitride processing machinery design. I moved through multiple robotics roles as the technical lead before moving into the part that had interested me the most, and somehow on every project ended up being the bottleneck - motor and motion control.
I started my own open source project for motor control in 2020, developing FOC hardware and software from scratch, and by 2022 it was being used in several industrial applications. Public development largely stopped in favour of specific private applications for clients, and later the pinnacle of this knowledge combined with Elwin’s experiences and we formed Dynamesys together with Frank and Stefan with the vision to make our best representation possible of our motion control available to the world.
